Effective January 1, 2014 master and journeyman licensees will have to show proof of completing 15-hours of continuing education on the 2014 NEC changes by December 31, 2014.   This means the 15-hours of continuing education will have to be completed in the first year of the Code cycle regardless of when you renew your license.

Traditionally the State Building Code Review Board has accepted a request from the Electricians’ Licensing Board to adopt the NEC on July 1 of the Code change year.  It is likely coordination will be made with the new requirement to complete the 15-hours in the first year and adopt the 2014 NEC on January 1, 2015 instead of July 1, 2014.  This way all master and journeyman licensees will have completed the 15-hours before the NEC is adopted.
